At Bingham Ground Services, we had the pleasure of working on a project in Rugeley, Staffordshire. We transformed an underused outdoor area into a vibrant Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). The goal was to create a versatile space that could accommodate various sports and activities, providing the community with a safe and enjoyable environment.
Our team began by conducting a thorough site assessment to understand the specific requirements and challenges of the location. We then proceeded with comprehensive groundworks, including excavation and the installation of an advanced drainage system to ensure optimal performance of the new sports surface.
What’s Next?
Then, we constructed a robust sub-base and installed precision-laid edgings to define the boundaries of the MUGA. This foundation was crucial for the longevity and performance of the sports surface.
To increase player safety and comfort, we applied a recycled shock pad and overlaid it with our premium 18mm Multi-Use Sports Surface. This sports surface is designed to withstand the demands of various sports while providing excellent shock absorption. The surface was then marked with clear, permanent lines for netball and five-a-side football, facilitating multiple sports activities.
Understanding the importance of security and functionality, we designed and installed bespoke fencing featuring crossbars, integrated basketball hoops, and recessed goals. This customisation ensured the facility met all functional and safety standards.
To complement the new MUGA, we constructed a tarmac access path for easy and safe entry to the facility. We undertook extensive landscaping using the excavated spoil, seamlessly integrating the MUGA into the surrounding environment.
The project was completed on time and within budget, resulting in a high-quality, multi-functional sports court that meets the diverse needs of the community in Rugeley.
